Fall is almost here and you're probably thinking of ways to preserve your summer vegetables. Kimchi is a delicious and fun solution. Making your own is simple and fulfilling but you may be intimidated because we’re used to getting our favorite jar from a grocery store. Jihhun Kim is a Korean Chef that has mastered the art of making this delicious condiment. She’ll provide a recipe and do a kimchi demo while using our spices so you can confidently make kimchi at home.

The Herbal Kitchen will give you the confidence and knowledge to boost immunity, heal sickness, enhance energy and ensure overall health and vitality for you and your family.


Kami McBride’s 30 years of teaching herbal medicine is steeped in her calling to activate culture that embraces deep connection with the earth and inspires the next generation to love and care for the plants. Kami has taught herbal medicine at University of California San Francisco School of Nursing and leads the Earth Medicine Herb Walks at the Bioneers Conference. She has helped thousands of families learn to use herbs for self-care. She is the author of The Herbal Kitchen and her live and online workshops fuel the home herbalism movement to revitalize our relationship with the plant world and use herbal medicine for home wellness care.


Spice Rack Talk, The Healing Power of Kitchen Spices, Culinary Oils, Kitchen Herbal Medicine, The Herbal Pantry are just a few of the things you’ll be able to chat about with Kami Mcbride. 

 

During the book signing you'll get the opportunity to sample some snacks using World Spice Merchants spices from recipes of the Herbal Kitchen.

The business's of Western Avenue are like an extended family. Doing a collaboration with our neighbor across the street was a no brainer. We'll have one of Barque Brontes amazing pastry chefs giving out samples of their beautiful French style macarons using our spices. Come in for a treat and get pointers on how to experiment with this delicate cookie.

This is our favorite time of year at the store. Come in and try some our favorite fall drinks. You'll have the opportunity to try our mulled cider using Washington apples and our Mayan Cocoa so you'll have a go to beverage all Winter long. We'll provide recipes and help you choose all of the ingredients to make your alcoholic and non alcoholic holiday beverages.

This event is perfect for the chocoholic in all of us. They make the best stocking stuffers assuming you don't keep them for yourself.

Enjoy a world of flavor and plan your New Year's party menu at this cozy event from Gilbert's Cheese Experience: a cheese-pairing pop-up that connects consumers with local producers. Led by Brian Gilbert, head cheesemonger at Beecher's Handmade Cheese, and culinary storyteller Holly Regan, you'll learn how your food and drinks are made, meet the people who make them and go on an interactive tasting journey.

We are thrilled to team up with World Spice Merchants: Seattle's premiere purveyor of spices, herbs and teas. Located in the epicenter of Seattle's food culture, behind Pike Place Market on Western Avenue, we're bringing you an evening of unique snacks and pairings from every corner of the globe: from Asia and the Middle East to right here at home. Breathe in the tantalizing aromas of World Spice Merchants' unique blends, and savor appetizers, condiments and oils steeped in exotic flavors from their pantry.

This sensory-delighting evening will take your party food to the next level, as we combine these culinary treasures with carefully curated artisan cheeses. We'll also teach you how cheese is made; learn how World Spice Merchants chooses and creates their spices and blends; and discover how to do a proper tasting. This is a fun, interactive time where you can share your experience with your hosts and other guests.

Each ticket includes four curated pairings of artisan cheeses and spice-infused appetizers and condiments. We'll also offer tea and other beverages, along with a snack table full of multicultural and seasonal treats.
