This rub is about the meat. Based on the classic salt and black pepper of a Texas beef barbecue, we’ve smoked this blend with mesquite for 6 hours to punch up the flavor so that this super-coarse grind stands up to the hot fat on a brisket or juicy ribs. If you serve it with sauce, we’ll let you explain why to your Texas friends. Each one cup jar is packed with a generous 6 oz measure of rub.
