Laurus australus
The California bay leaf is much more attractive than the Turkish but the verdict is still out on flavor comparisons. We like them both for different reasons so judge for yourself. Pay attention to the aromatic versus the savory flavor profiles of each. Used for shorter cooking times, the California Bay hints at camphor and Eucalyptus. Very light in weight so be careful when ordering not to get too many.
