Persea americana

Used in Latin cuisine much like a bay leaf, Avocado leaf has a light, musty flavor that is perfect in black bean dishes or anything from the region. It's a hard one to find but there is no substitute for the authentic flavors of Central America. Be sure to toast the dry leaves first to bring out the flavor.
