Trachyspermum copticum

A hard seed that looks like cumin or fennel in shape but with a decidedly musty base flavor. Very common to Indian and African cuisine, especially with lentils. The ground seed can even help reduce the gaseous effects of beans when cooked for a short time together. Try it anywhere you use cumin for a surprisingly different flavor.
